Fomenting Fear: Boston As Red Herring

Here we go again. Humanity's on a roll, awakening at the speed of love, co-creating ingenious solutions for local, regional and international challenges in ever more magnanimous ways. We might even be moving towards global unity.

The faster and stronger our rise in Light, the greater the resistance from forces that fear losing control. Whether we perceive these dark energies as originating from beyond the country or beyond the planet, one certainty is this: the best way to prevent questioning, growth, and union is by generating fear. Keep the people cowed and obedient, quaking within at the potential threat everywhere, and separation is assured.

After all, who can you trust when something as apple-pie American as the Boston Marathon, an institution more than a century old that attracts runners from all over the world, is tainted forever by a bombing at the finish line? How safe can we be in our backyards if something like this could happen in the midst of half a million people and all that security?

This is precisely what the instigators want. Do not trip the trap. Grieve for those injured or killed, yes. Make every effort to bring the terrorists to "justice", if such an action is possible. But don't crawl meekly back into the old skin. It's shed. It is time to arise as One and light the way to the higher truth of our intrinsic unity.

Rumi says it best:

The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.

Don't go back to sleep.

You must ask for what you really want.

Don't go back to sleep.

People are going back and forth across the doorsill
where the two worlds touch.

The door is round and open.

Don't go back to sleep.

How to Receive What You No Longer Want

As we emerge from our extended global gestation, I'm watching people joyfully birth long-term projects from deep inner wellsprings, ready at last to bring their unique gifts to Light. At the same time, I'm also observing how amused surrender allows our heartfelt desires to manifest more easily than ardent invocation — although I've been an advocate of the latter for a very long while.

Radical manifestation means completely feeling the fulfillment of what we want — then dropping all attachment to having it. This sounds paradoxical. However, we must get out of our own way in order to receive what we no longer want. Yearning indicates a lack of faith, which keeps our desire, like the proverbial carrot on a stick, tantalizingly just out of reach. But be all right without it, and Spirit swiftly delivers the goods.

The shift for me is appreciating this awareness from an amused perspective. Before, I'd try to remain detached, but my frustration with delays gave my true feelings away. Now, more and more, I'm living in the wellspring, watching the waters of wonder continuously renew me as I surrender to Source and allow myself to receive.

This is the feminine, attractive principle, here in the yin Year of the Snake, what so many have labeled, "The Law of Attraction": the power of pull rather than push, becoming magnetic to our good and allowing it in, rather than chasing it down, wrestling it to the ground and proclaiming victory.

At this moment of moving into ever-greater wholeness, consider (literally, "with the stars") the Native American Giveaway. In the Giveaway tradition, you offer what you value most to another, with no strings attached (to your offering or to your heart). The gift might take the form of time, talent, food, clothing, etc. If it's precious to you, you allow it to spill over, like a waterfall.

I invite you to consider a Giveaway to bring about greater balance and integration in your life — without, of course, holding that as the goal.

Putting It Into Practice

What do you love so much you'd feel blessed to give it to someone else?

I once lost an earring at the beach from a pair that was special to me for many reasons. I kept its mate in the box. Then I became friendly with a woman who had a single pierced ear. On her birthday, I was inspired to give her my earring because I couldn't imagine buying a gift that meant more to me. She understood immediately when I shared the earring's history, responding, "Oh, it's a Giveaway!"

Your Giveaway might be to the mineral, plant or animal realms: planting seedlings from the beloved tree in your backyard in a barren lot, for example.

Your gift can also be anonymous. In Pronoia: How the Whole World Is Conspiring to Shower You With Blessings, Rob Brezsny shares the story of a woman who donated a kidney to someone she didn't know, then returned to her regular life and clerical job. Three years later she won half a million dollars in the lottery. This does not mean that a Giveaway will net you a reward in kind (or in cash) — simply that doing something you feel called to do, without expectation, puts the Universe on notice that you're living in the flow. That's when synchronicity starts.

For many of us, giving this blessing to ourselves may be the beginning place: you cannot give to others if your own wells are running dry. If you've been giving yourself away for years, perhaps the greatest Giveaway is time spent soaking at a spa, to help gift you back into wholeness.

Feel free to share your Giveaway stories ~ and may you experience waves of amusement along the way.

The Beginning of the World

"To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour."

~ Auguries of Innocence, William Blake

Have you been feeling a sense of urgency for a while — as though an invisible undertow is pulling you in over your head? The Hopi prophecy about these times begins, "There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and so swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore…"

We are all swimming in an emergent sea of consciousness — and, since this is so new, we may tend to fall back on old models to try to understand what's happening. "Oh! This must be an emergency!" Remember that emergency equates to crisis — and crisis means turning point. Emergence (minus the "y", or "why," of our scrambling, questioning minds) means to come out, to gush forth — like flowing waters. The cosmic comic Swami Beyondananda calls it, "Emerge and see." Let's take a slow, luminous look at where we are now.

September 11, 2001 was a wake-up call, our planetary initiation into a higher way of being. If 9-1-1 was the conception, our global gestation has been underway for the past decade. Because we've never experienced a global birth process before, there's no template for how to do it, or what it might look or feel like. Some of us are responding with hyperactivity; others are exhausted; we may fluctuate between the two. Some people are feeling ravenous all the time; others have little or no appetite. An expectant mother knows that the baby growing inside her affects all aspects of her life for the nine months she carries the being in her womb.

How strange and wonderful to be part of a collective birth, a worldwide rebirth of consciousness, here in the body of our Earth Mother! On October 28, 2011, the 26,000-year cycle of the Mayan Calendar concludes, initiating us into a higher dimension. (This evolution is also affecting animals, especially cats, which are helping to anchor the vibration of transmutation.) The more we can take care of ourselves and of one another as we prepare for our emergence, the more joy-full it can be.

Once again, a subtle shift in perception may help. Consider the word n-o-w-h-e-r-e. It's usually pronounced "no where." If we subtlely shift our focus, however, we arrive at the key to living in the present moment, which is where all gifts reside: now here.

This is a new dawn, our collective inauguration. The word inauguration contains the word "augur," which means to predict, to forecast. What do we want to vote for, as a planetary people, in this ripe moment of rebirth? What augurs well for our growth as a species? Blake's "Auguries of Innocence," quoted above, suggests one positive pathway.

Firework: An Ecology of the Mind

I can't get the lyrics to Katy Perry's Firework out of my head. While the tune is catchy, the first time I actually listened to the words, I marveled at her perspicacity. Who hasn't felt "like a plastic bag drifting through the wind, wanting to start again"? I sure can remember when I had no skin, "so paper-thin, like a house of cards, one blow from caving in." And that part about feeling "already buried deep, six feet under screams but no one seems to hear a thing"? She knows the journey, all right.

This is how I felt when I thought no one understood what the awakening process looked like for me, when they thought I looked fine, unable to read the wildness in my eyes. And as I embarked on a three-plus year dark night of the soul, questioning my very existence, I didn't yet know how to "ignite the light and let it shine." Yet this became my life purpose, and the name of my service — Live Your Light — on the far side of this healing adventure.

How does Katy carry such insight at such a tender age? She penned Firework in her mid-20s — a time when I was still fast asleep spiritually. Given the accelerated pace of personal and planetary evolution, it doesn't surprise me that Katy is conscious far earlier in her life than I was. What's exciting is how cleanly she's managed to encapsulate personal evolution into a few spare lines, offering guidance and upliftment to multitudes on their quest.

Another song that riveted me in a similar way a few years back is Crazy, debuted by Gnarls Barkley in 2006. I was driving, idly listening to the radio, when the DJ offered, "Pay attention to this one," and I was astonished to hear, "I remember when, I remember when I lost my mind. There was something so pleasant about that phase. Even your emotions had an echo in so much space. And when you're out there, without care, yeah, I was out of touch. But it wasn't because I didn't know enough. I just knew too much. Does that make me crazy? Does that make me crazy? Does that make me crazy? Possibly."

This is exactly how I felt, what the journey looks like: you do "lose your mind," your ordinary, rational mind, as you embrace the multidimensional realms of existence. Everything in your life echoes, because you've pried your mental fingers loose and are free-falling into the depths of your soul. I speak to this in detail on my CD, What You Need to Know Now: A Road Map for Personal Transformation.

How amazing it would have been to have heard such songs in the blackness of that dark night. And, in fact, they were probably there, had I been able to hear them, or known then what I was experiencing.

So as we enter this corridor of global rebirth en masse, know that you are not alone, even when you feel like a plastic bag drifting in the wind, having lost your tether to reason. It's exactly what needs to happen now, and it's all good. Surrender to the journey of a lifetime; on the far side of it, you'll ignite the Light, and let it shine.

Peace Through Creativity

I've written about how we can create planetary peace by telling ourselves a new story about the world we've created. Celia Fenn takes this concept a step further by advocating creativity itself as the way through and beyond anger and despair.

In her current Earthlog, she writes, "Peace is not just the absence of conflict ... it is a profound state of consciousness that expresses compassion, love and unity through creativity. In order to move beyond conflict in our lives and globally, we need to enter into this state of creativity, harmony and peace."

What does creative peacemaking look like? Celia quotes Brazilian Jaime Lerner, who speaks about changing cities through stewardship: "When I was governor, we had to clean the bays. In our state we proposed to the fishermen the equation of co-responsibility. We said: 'If you catch the fish, the fish belong to you. If you catch the garbage we are going to pay you. The more you fish garbage, the more money you will have.' The more they cleaned the bay, they more fish they had. That's a win-win solution."

Lerner maintains that global issues such as climate change, food shortages, resource depletion and sustainability are not "terminal"; we must not give up in fear that there's nothing we can do to change what we have created.

The more creative we can be in shifting our perspective on cities themselves, and on the problems that need to be solved, the closer we'll be to a truly new world.

It's a G.A.S. - G.A.S. - G.A.S.!

The title of this post doesn't refer to the refrain from the Rolling Stones' "Jumpin' Jack Flash," but rather to what we're experiencing now: Global Acceleration Syndrome, nicknamed G.A.S. by Reconnections channel Daniel Jacob.

It's a planetary birth process, something I've been writing about for many years (see my ebook series, What Shines: Practical Wisdom for Unleashing Your Inner Brilliance, a compendium of multidimensional guidance with hands-on application for your life now. There's a special FREE bonus offered with the purchase of books 2 & 3 throughout the month of June!)

G.A.S. Symptom Summary:

∞ Insomnia
∞ Spacey-ness
∞ Joint and muscle aches and pains
∞ Fatigue
∞ Depression and/or anxiety
∞ Allergies and immune system challenges
∞ Short-term memory loss
∞ Unexplained weight gain
∞ Pain at the back of the neck

Some of Daniel's suggestions for managing the shift (with helpful links):

• "It's all PERFECT"
• "It's all ME"
• "It's all REAL"
• "It's all NOW"

And I'd add, "It's all RIGHT!!"

Shine On, Beloveds ...
